Shadow of the Wind

This book was recommended to me by several people, but I think the best thing about it is its title. It has some magical elements that are attractive, such as the "Cemetery of Forgotten Books," (a secret building, sort of like the Library of Congress, it has a copy of every book, but unlike the Library of Congress, you can't find a given book unless you have blazed a trail to its place.) There's also a special Mont Blanc fountain pen, but it really doesn't go anywhere. The characters are flat, and the plot is predictable. I guessed the identity of the mysterious character trying to destroy every copy of the book Shadow of the Wind immediately, and I knew that eventually someone would have to be impaled on the upward-pointing finger of a statue knocked into a fountain.

Seriously, the best thing about the book is its title.
